Where to Take Your Pups in The Summertime

Summer is right around the corner, and Denver citizens everywhere are itching to get back to their old haunts and hangs. With temperatures reaching past the 60’s, it’s nearly time to box up our Patagonia’s and bust out the Berks. Spring is here, and that means bringing your faithful companions out of the house and along for the ride.

We know Denver has plenty to offer in the way of bars, day-hangs, and coffee shops. But which of those will Fido enjoy as well? We’ve got you covered with our top 5 favorite pet-friendly spots to enjoy the summer rays with your best friend.

  1. Improper City. Located in RiNo is this trendy warehouse taproom and coffee bar with a massive lawn. The patio boasts plenty of room for dogs to sit with their owners and company and also offers a variety of food trucks to snack at that change daily.

  2. Recess Beer Garden. You’ll find this tree-covered patio in the lively Highlands area. With plenty of outdoor tables and fun game-day atmosphere, this spot is a no-brainer for convening with human and non-human friends for a burger or beer. Bonus: the shade of the trees will also keep you cool when it gets blazing out! Important to note: dogs are (unfortunately) not allowed on Friday or Saturday during summer.

  3. Happy Camper. Next on the list is this wide-open, funky grass patio just around the corner from Recess. Within 2,801 square feet of restaurant space, Happy Camper has a giant patio with a variety of different spots to post up at and enjoy a cocktail or bowl of water. Prost Brewing is another pup-stop to make next door!

  4. Punch Bowl Social. Apart from this “industrial chic” bar and restaurant off Broadway, they have adapted fully to the pandemic limitations, transforming their parking lot into a wide-open outdoor seating area – COVID and dog-friendly!

  5. Low Down Brewery. Located in the “Golden Triangle,” this super dog friendly patio has plenty of space for dogs of all sizes and shapes to enjoy the outdoors while their humans feast on delicious pizza and beer.

Honorable Mention: The Watering Bowl. If you can handle hectic and don’t shy away at the thought of 20-30 dogs in a small grassy space chasing one tennis bowl, this is a great option to let your dog off leash to expel some of that pent-up energy!

While this is just the tip of the iceberg of pet-friendly places to pop into this summer, we think this is a great start for your summer fun! See you out there, Denver & company!
